ACI Worldwide is gaining competitive strength in the financial services market with its most recent acquisition, ORCC.

The acquisition follows its stated intent to expand into new markets, mainly community banks and credit unions, as well as adding scale to its bill-payment and mobile solutions. ORCC had been the lone holdout from the early electronic bill-pay days, as Fiserv bought Checkfree and ORCC itself purchased Princeton eCom, in 2007 and 2006, respectively. With new recurring revenue streams, a highly experienced team, and technical infrastructure, ACI checks off another notch in its march to acquire new software, adding to its portfolio of new assets, which includes S1 and Distra.

From Reuters:

The deal will broaden ACI Worldwide’s customer base with the addition of 1,000 banks, credit unions, billers, credit card issuers, and other credit and payment service providers. Online Resources processes more than 245 million bill payment transactions annually. The company’s bill payment solutions connect more than 9,000 billers.
