Blackhawk Network, which has primarily been known as aprepaid card distributor, announcedthat it completed its deal for CardLab Inc., which gives it more tools forbusiness-to-business prepaid distribution.

CardLab, through itsIncentiveCardLab.com website, offers a variety of prepaid cards intended tosuit every business purpose and budget, ranging from custom logo Visa IncentiveCards, restaurant and retail store gift cards to e-gift cards, all of which canbe sent to a recipient via e-mail or SMS text message. CardLab’s easy-to-usecustom card design and distribution services make it simple, fast andaffordable to send prepaid incentive cards in any denomination from $5 to $2500.The fully automated website also allows businesses to upload their corporatelogos or customize existing incentive card designs for a more personal touch.

The deal builds on Blackhawk’s acquisition of InteliSpend,which was formerly owned by the incentives company Maritz. As digital cardstake up more market share in the payments landscape, tools like this will helpcompanies like Blackhawk move into the digital age.
