ATM management services have become an increasingly important strategy for banks and credit unions seeking to balance operational efficiency with customer convenience. While digital banking continues to expand, financial institutions still rely on ATMs to provide essential self-service banking capabilities. By partnering with specialized ATM providers, institutions can streamline operations, reduce costs, and focus more resources on enhancing digital experiences for their customers.

Cardtronics’ expanded partnership with TDECU demonstrates how outsourced ATM operations can strengthen both physical and digital banking strategies. The agreement illustrates how financial institutions are leveraging managed ATM networks to maintain broad access to cash while improving efficiency and delivering a better overall member experience.

HOUSTON, March 20, 2018Cardtronics (Nasdaq: CATM) today announced that TDECU, the largest credit union in Houston with more than 275,000 members, has selected Cardtronics to operate and manage its entire ATM fleet. Cardtronics is the world’s largest ATM owner / operator.

In an expansion of its existing ATM services relationship with Cardtronics, TDECU will now turn to Cardtronics to operate and manage 105 TDECU ATMs – including 36 Member Center ATMs, as well as TDECU’s entire fleet of off-premise ATMs, which features locations such as Buc-ee’s convenience stores, the University of Houston, plus additional retail, education, professional and government office, medical center, and entertainment venue locations.

Additionally, TDECU Members have surcharge-free access to 55,000 ATMs worldwide, as part of the credit union’s membership in the Allpoint surcharge-free ATM network. Allpoint is a wholly owned subsidiary of Cardtronics.

“Transitioning the management of our ATM fleet to Cardtronics enables TDECU to maintain great Member experiences and exceptional service delivery as we realize operational efficiencies,” said Steve Stevens, SVP – Retail Lending, TDECU. “By partnering with Cardtronics as our enterprise-wide ATM specialist, TDECU can increase its focus on innovative technology and digital services for our Members.”

“Cardtronics has proven itself as a trusted ATM services partner for TDECU,” said Brian Bailey, Cardtronics Managing Director – North America. “By looking to us to operate and manage the entire TDECU ATM fleet, TDECU has affirmed Cardtronics as the ATM specialist of choice. We are the preferred ATM specialist to help maintain a strong physical presence for self-service banking, which enables financial institutions to focus on delivering superior digital experiences to complement their physical channels.”

As financial institutions continue investing in digital transformation, the ATM remains an important touchpoint for customers who rely on self-service banking. Partnering with specialized providers enables institutions to optimize operations, expand surcharge-free access, and enhance customer convenience without sacrificing service quality. The growing adoption of ATM management services demonstrates that physical banking channels continue to complement digital banking strategies rather than compete with them.
