The IdeaBank, built using technology from SalesForce.com, has been launched to coincide with the bank’s centenary celebrations. Users will be able to post their ideas and comment and collaborate on all submissions.

The new portal will be open for postings until March, when the best ideas will be put to the vote by the bank’s executive team and customers, with the overall winner pocketing a $10,000 prize.

CBA says the winning idea will be developed internally and released to the community through the bank’s My NetBank Lab portal, where customers can test new products and services before they go to market.

With IdeaBank, CBA is taking an interesting and creative approach in the way it listens to its customers. By extending techniques used by many technology firms with that of banking, the company will likely get many creative and useful ideas, some that may be candidates for new products and services.

Initiatives like IdeaBank may uncover new ideas that can result in solutions that are truly customer-centric, provide deep value to customers, and promote loyalty to their primary financial institutions.
