Durbin Rules Are Made To Be Broken

Perhaps stating the obvious, one of the first organizations to host a Durbin-specific webinar opined on how interchange rules have been modified in other countries. One would expect this to happen with the Durbin rules as well, if for no other reason than the Federal Reserve will be monitoring compliance through formal periodic reviews.

“Addressing a telephone conference call addressing the impact of the Durbin Amendment regulations, Brown pointed out that in every other country which had capped debit interchange, regulators had to “go back in” to make changes or fixes to the existing rule. Brown, who has worked with debit in various countries, brought an international perspective to the call.”
