While Order Ahead isn’t a breathtaking new technology (Download the Mercator Foresight here “Mobile Order and Pay Ahead: A New Sales Channel for Restaurants and Merchants”), implementers have found it increases productivity, revenue, and customer satisfaction. No surprise Disney is now implementing it:

“Disney announced today that it will bring Walt Disney World’s mobile ordering system to the Disneyland Resort, too.

With mobile ordering, guests use Disney’s official theme park apps to place an order and pay for their food at a participating quick-service restaurant. The app then lets the guest know when their food will be ready, so they can pick it up at a designated window or counter location at the restaurant.

We tried the system at Walt Disney World and recommend that you use Disney’s mobile ordering wherever you can.

Disneyland has not yet announced which restaurants will support mobile ordering or when the system will go online. (But it will support AP discounts.) Walt Disney World has been rolling out mobile ordering in phases, starting at a handful of restaurants before expanding, then adding support for the Disney Dining Plan as well as the initial credit card-only payment.

There is no Disney Dining Plan at the Disneyland Resort, so that won’t be an issue. But the addition of mobile ordering likely will prompt more Disneyland visitors to use the Disneyland app, which isn’t as necessary at Disneyland as the My Disney Experience app is at Walt Disney World, as you cannot use Disneyland’s app to make or change Fastpass reservations… unless you have upgraded to Disney’s paid Maxpass system. (Which is awesome and well worth the money, by the way.)”

Feeding those hungry kids at the park just got easier and faster!
