Google is reportedly working on a new version of its Wallet and it appears headed to the iPhone in the near future.

Google has quietly updated the website for Google Wallet, its mobile-payments service, to advertise “the next version of Google Wallet, coming soon.” Visitors can request an invite. We did, and Google asked us what kind of device we used—offering a choice of iPhone, Android, or “other.”
Google Wallet hasn’t made overwhelming gains with consumers for a variety of reasons, mostly because the service is available only through Sprint, U.S. Cellular, and Virgin Mobile. NFC-enabled phones also obviously are not widespread in the United States.
Google Wallet on the iPhone would have to incorporate a QR code or cloud-based method since Apple decided not to include an NFC chip in its latest version. The alleged move also shows Google’s willingness to move away from its original intent with NFC to gain more consumer use and merchant acceptance.
