Isis and American Express have reached an agreement enabling Isis to carry American Express’ Consumer, Open Small Business, and Serve cards. This is separate from the agreement between the two announced last summer as this agreement is from an issuing standpoint whereas the former discussed acquiring capabilities.

This agreement follows Isis’ announced partnerships with bank cards (Chase, Barclaycard, and Capital One), point-of-sale terminal manufacturers (VeriFone, Ingenico, and ViVOtech), payment networks (Visa, MasterCard, Discover and American Express), and mobile-device manufacturers (HTC, LG, Motorola, RIM, Samsung, and Sony Ericsson).

The aspect of this agreement most worth focusing on is the addition of Serve to the Isis Wallet:

Serve integrates a variety of payment options into a single account that can be funded by a bank account, debit or credit card. With Isis, the Serve digital platform becomes a bit like a mobile wallet within a wallet.

Isis will begin its pilot programs in Austin, Texas and Salt Lake City later this year.
