MasterCard on Monday released a user interface software development kit for both the Android and BlackBerry platforms. This kit will enable issuers, mobile network operators, and more to develop mobile applications for the PayPass program.

From PC Magazine:

“Our first-ever UI SDK provides smart tools and makes it easier for our partners to issue a complete contactless payment solution on mobile,” Mobile at MasterCard executive Mung Ki Woo said.

This iteration is more programmer-friendly than the previous SDK, encouraging less skilled programmers to develop new payment apps. The toolkit includes application programming interface (API) code libraries, API specification documentation, a developer guide, sample UI application code, white-label reference UI application, and a test suite. These tools enable the integration of PayPass with mobile banking and wallet applications.
