Mobile payments and mobile marketing are quickly evolving as more companies from retail, payments providers and from the technology sector look to be important players in this young, but fast growing business.

The number of mobile wallets is continuing to grow, security issues are getting more attention and retailers are finding ways to tie mobile to loyalty programs and to extend offers to consumers when they are in close proximity to a store.

These are among the topics that will be examined by speakers and panels at the Mobile Marketing & Technology Spring 2013 Mobile Payments Conference, April 10-11, at the Helen Mills Event Space and Theater in New York City. This is the fourth Mobile Payments Conference that MM&T has run over the last four years to address the growing interest in mobile.

David Kaminisky, senior analyst for Mercator Advisory Group will be among the experts from U.S. and international firms who will discuss the latest developments and their outlooks for mobile payments through the end of the year and beyond.“2013 will be a breakout year for mobile payments,” according to Jason Oxman chief executive officer of the Washington, D.C.-based Electronic Transactions Association, and one of the conference keynote speakers.

“We’ve seen a great deal of interest among member companies in expanding the range of our offerings, including mobile transaction solutions,” Oxman added. “We just released a research study with 80 incumbent ISO and point-of-sale companies asking about the opportunities and risks the face.”

The conference will also include representatives from the payment processing side of the business, including independent sales organizations (ISOs), value-added resellers (VARs), value-added dealers (VADs), agents and master agents.
Heartland Payment Systems, which processes more than 11 million transactions a day and over $80 billion a year, will discuss the implications of mobile payments for processors and related businesses.

Also included will be training to address EMV business decisions, implementations and technical integration.
