PayPal announced it will be partnering with Rabobank in the Netherlands to allow shoppers to use their PayPal accounts to order ahead and pay for goods and services at 1500 high street locations across Holland. The partnership will see PayPal integrated into Rabobank’s MyOrder technology which the financial institution acquired an 80-percent stake in 2012.
According to PayPal, the integration of its system into Rabobank’s MyOrder will enable users to order and pay for food or drinks ahead of arriving at a café or restaurant without calling over the waiter, or pay for parking without searching for the closest parking meter. To use this service, PayPal users can click on the local tab component of the application and see what local businesses are participating.
PayPal has been looking to build out its mobile payment offering and has already launched similar services in Australia and in London. While consumer adoption and usage statistics are not available for these earlier pilots, the newest launch would indicate that PayPal has seen consumer interest in participating in similar programs.
With consumers increasingly demanding innovate and convenient payment services, PayPal is well positioned to become a leading payment service provider both online and in the physical world.
