For the second year in a row, TSYS has sponsored a comprehensive research study designed to illuminate consumer use of debit, as well as attitudes and concerns about alternative payment products, in addition to uncovering the leading indicators of payment choice at the POS. Done in partnership with Mercator Advisory Group, the survey results are available to the public through TSYS, as well as, during a webinar scheduled for November 13th.

“…Sarah Hartman, senior director, TSYS. “Our research re-confirms the enduring strength of debit but also reveals that consumers can be incented to change how they pay and are also increasingly aware of and interested in emerging payment alternatives.”

As the market transitions from paper to card to mobile, card issuers need a deeper understanding of the underlying dynamics that drive consumers to choose one form of payment over another. Even though many consumers use a personal methodology to make purchases, these loyalties can be influenced through strategic, relevant offers and rewards, as is documented in this study.

TSYS® (NYSE: TSS) today announced it has made available to the industry the results of its second annual nationwide primary consumer research study, which can be accessed at www.tsys.com/debit. TSYS will also offer a complimentary webinar to discuss the results on Tuesday, November 13, at 2:00 p.m. ET. Interested participants may register for the webinar at the same website address.
