Google last month introduced a cloud-based version of its Google Wallet mobile payments application, a version that now can support almost any U.S. issued credit or debit card. Shortly after that annoucement, Discover announced its support for the service, adding a click-to-add feature on its own website, simplifying the process for Discover customers to add their card to Google Wallet.
Now, Barclaycard US is following suit, adding a similar feature to its website, encouraging LL Bean and US Airways co-branded cardholders to use that card as the default.
Dekkers Davidson, head, mobile commerce, Barclaycard US, says: “Google Wallet is a compelling solution for consumers that makes doing business faster and more rewarding and will make the experience with Barclaycard even more simple and easy to use.”
Google says both Green Dot and Silicon Valley Bank are in the process of taking similar steps to support their cards being added to Google Wallet.
In related news, Isis has announced a delay of their trial programs in Austin and Salt Lake City. They will reveal the new launch dates in October.
