OMA Emirates introduces biometrics PoS terminals in India

Best in class terminalsare compliant with Aadhar Enabled Payments System

Mumbai,June 20, 2017

Leading payments solutions and financialtechnology company OMA Emirates announces the launch of its Biometrics PoSterminal range – iWB Bio Series in India. Powered by Ingenico, the rangeincludes the iWB Bio 220 and iWB Bio 250 PoS terminals. The iWB Bio series enablespayments by validating a user’s fingerprint in order to process a transactionand is an ideal solution for merchants and businesses exploring and acceptingAEPS through terminals. The iWB Bio Series comes along with an inbuiltfingerprint scanner thus eliminating the need of an external fingerprintscanner. It uses the IP65 optical sensor and best in class biometric algorithmsby Morpho and is known to match fingerprints in seconds.

The iWB Bio series can connect to a datanetwork via GPRS, Ethernet or the Dual Sim Slot available. It uses the unique4-Factor-Authentication where in it combines Chip, Pin, fingerprintverification and GPS tracking thus making it one of the most secure modes oftransaction simultaneously building an efficient fraud management system. Additionally,the iWB Bio series offers all transaction options rangingfrom traditional Magstripe, EMV chip & PIN and also the latest contactlessand NFC technology cards.

On introducing theiWB Bio Series in India, Mr. Niranj Sangal, Group CEO, OMA Emirates said, “Webelieve that India is ready to transact with the use of Aadhar and biometrics. Howeverin order to increase the number of Aadhar based payments via PoS, there is aneed to increase the number of payment acceptance points in the country. TheiWB Bio series is an all in one solution which can accept payments via input ofa PIN as well as with a fingerprint for AEPS. Its matches prints within secondsand is extremely secure.”

“We have been receiving enquires and requestsfor the iWB Bio series terminals from merchants as it replaces the existing PoSterminals. We will also begin providing a complete end-to-end integratedsolution directly to merchants and acquiring banks to help increase the numberof Aadhar based transactions. Simultaneously, the deployment of these biometricsterminals will contribute towards the 1,00,000 PoS terminals we aim to deployby year end in India.” Sangal added

The iWB Bio series terminals have a mobileform-factor, an ergonomic design and comes along with image based messaging andaudio guidance. Its long lasting battery and colour display has been designedfor outdoor use as well. The iWB Bio Series is the first fingerprint device tobe PCI-PTS 3.1 certified with SRED and open protocols and complies with allnecessary standards and certifications in order to process payments in India.OMA Emirates will be deploying the iWB range via banks, financial institutions,micro-finance and government entities using AEPS for PDS, LPG and Gas and paymentsfor government services.
