Testing servicesand tools now available to enable banks, card and terminal manufacturers tocomply with the TROY payment scheme

April19, 2017 – FIMEtoday announces its central role in the development and rollout of Turkey’sfirst domestic scheme, TROY (Turkey’s Payment Method). TROY is a strategicinitiative supported by all Turkish banks and managed by BKM (Interbank CardCenter of Turkey). FIME was selected by BKM in 2015 to provide consultancy andtraining at the launch of the project. FIME was then engaged to define thescheme’s technical specifications, develop the certification body and process, and define test tools prior to the commercial launch of the new scheme forcontact payments in April 2016. This was followed by the successful launch ofcontactless payments in April 2017.

FIME’stest tools are qualified, and laboratories accredited, to support Turkishissuing and acquiring members in integrating with the scheme and launching TROYproducts and services. FIME is also working closely with payment terminalmanufacturers and kernel developers to develop and certify TROY-compliantproducts.

“Wedecided two years ago that the time was right and FIME treated us like a schemefrom the start,” comments Cenk Temiz, Executive Vice President for Card PaymentSystems, at BKM. “Its consultancy, training and local support guided us throughthe whole process and we successfully launched the second phase of the schemein April. We look forward to building on our close relationship as we work todrive adoption of contactless and, in time, mobile payments in Turkey.”

“TheTurkish market is evolving quickly and the development of a local scheme addsreal value to an increasingly sophisticated payments infrastructure,” commentsArnaud Peninon, Vice President, Consulting & Engineering at FIME. “Havingbeen central to the entire project, we are now ideally placed to help issuingand acquiring members to support the scheme. With contact and contactless cardpayment options already enabled, we are now working with BKM to enable securemobile contactless payments for Turkish banks and consumers.”

FIMEuses its TROY-qualified EVAL,Savvi, Globaland PersevalPro Issuer test tools to provideformal certification testing. The tools are available to all stakeholdersfor in-house pre-certification testing to identify and prevent issues that candelay launch.
