Fiserv has been working with M-Com for a number of years, using the New Zealand firm as its mobility expert. The relationship has been so close it finally became apparent to all that they’re stronger together than as separate entities. That’s especially true as mobile takes off and scaling up to address that demand is so resource intensive. Fiserv’s market reach and capital will get M-Com’s expertise more broadly available. Like every other acquisition, it will be interesting watching how this marriage works out.
The two companies have been partners since 2008, developing and delivering Mobile Money from Fiserv to hundreds of financial institutions.
Fiserv group president for Digital Payments Steve Olsen said the acquisition of M-Com will enhance Fiserv’s ability to provide anywhere, anytime access to consumers who want their finances at their fingertips.
