Expanding further into its target market segment, Specialist Data Solutions (SDS) announced today that it has entered into a multi-year, multi-million dollar deal with National Vision, Inc. for point-of-sale solutions and integration. National Vision is the “fourth largest optical retailer” in the U.S., according to the announcement, operating retail brands that include America’s Best Contacts & Eyeglasses and Eyeglass World, as well as optical centers inside select Wal-Mart, Fred Meyer, and military base locations. UK-based SDS now claims 50 percent market share of the top 10 corrective lens retailers in the States.

National Vision CEO, Reade Fahs, commented “National Vision has operated with an In-House Point of Sale system for as long as anyone can remember. With SDS we expect to move light years ahead of where we are today. Beyond the advantages that go with having a more stable, secure, and robust IT infrastructure, POS systems are a key component of creating enthusiastic customer ambassadors. They also play an important role in associate fulfillment with their job—as the wrong POS system can cause untold frustration to the life of a store. That’s why investing in SDS is part of National Vision’s long term growth strategy”.

SDS Founder and CEO, John Chartres, commented “National Vision has for years been the fastest growing optical retailer in North America. We are ecstatic to have been chosen, after a thorough technical and commercial assessment, to replace their current store and home office systems. We have a 21 year track record in this highly specialized industry and are proud to add National Vision to our client list of top optical retailers in the United Kingdom and the United States.”
