Appointment Advances CO-OP’s Technology Talent and Infrastructure Goals

RANCHO CUCAMONGA, Calif. – Matthew Maguire has joined CO-OP Financial Services as Chief Data Officer, a key milestone in CO-OP’s on-going initiative to grow the firm’s technology talent and infrastructure. In addition to advancing the firm’s technology goals, Maguire will be instrumental in helping the credit unions that are a part of the CO-OP ecosystem make greater use of their data with emerging technologies, such as machine learning and artificial intelligence.

“CO-OP is expanding its capabilities and talent in major ways,” said Todd Clark, CO-OP President/Chief Executive Officer. “Bringing the best minds in technology into the credit union movement will accelerate the digital transformation journey CO-OP and its credit union clients are on together. Matt’s expertise, vision and leadership talents are an ideal match for the seamless, secure payments experiences the members of our credit union clients are demanding. We will continue to invest in our human capital to enhance the capabilities in the areas that most deeply impact our clients.”

Maguire will report to Nick Calcanes, CO-OP’s Chief Information Officer. Calcanes joined the firm in April 2017 to provide technology strategy and integration between CO-OP’s infrastructure and product offerings.

“CO-OP’s executive management team has a clear vision, strong strategy and aggressive growth plans with the highest of expectations,” said Maguire. “There are a lot of ideas and technology in the financial services marketplace; the winners will be those who can focus, execute and deliver.”

Maguire joins CO-OP from Bank of America where he spent more than 10 years honing his global technology experience. Most recently serving as a senior vice president, he was responsible for leading the bank’s data application development, operations and support, an effort that required leadership of hundreds of full-time employees, consultants and global partners.

Other areas of expertise Maguire has honed over a nearly 20-year career in technology include business intelligence tools, identity access platforms, global information security requirements, data sharing agreements, data visualization/dashboards, as well as integration, consolidation and enhancement of critical enterprise data management platforms.
