MokiMobility has announced a partnership with Revel Systems, which will result in an mPOS solution that meets the PCI Security Standards Council’s newest set of mPOS security guidelines.

“With these new guidelines it’s important to consider how developers, merchants and solutions providers need to look at the environment as a whole, not just the mobile point-of-sale app itself,” said Tom Karren , CEO of MokiMobility. “They’re now faced with the challenge of diving into the network, the device, the OS, peripherals and other applications. A true management, monitoring and security solution such as ours that allows these users to go beyond the scope of just the app is critical.”

By integrating the MokiManage platform into its iPad-based POS solution, Revel will become the first mPOS provider to meet the new guidelines. Like all technologies incorporating the mobile platform, mPOS is developing quickly, with new features and functions being developed on a daily basis.

It is important that organizations such as the PCI SSC regularly update their standards, encouraging mPOS solution providers to keep their solutions up to date with current security needs. While Revel’s solution is the first to meet these updated standards, hopefully it will not be the last. Keeping all mPOS solutions as secure as possible is in the best interest of not only the solution providers, but also the merchants, consumers, and financial institutions that make, accept, or facilitate payments via mPOS.
