As global commerce increasingly shifts online, merchants are looking for payment solutions that can support a growing number of payment methods, geographies, and customer preferences. The rapid expansion of e-commerce has elevated the importance of payment gateways that can seamlessly connect merchants to alternative payment methods while helping manage fraud and risk across multiple channels.
ACI Worldwide’s acquisition of PAY.ON reflects this broader industry trend toward creating integrated omni-channel payment platforms. By combining PAY.ON’s extensive global payment connectivity with ACI’s existing fraud prevention and payments capabilities, the company is positioning itself to capitalize on continued growth in digital commerce while offering merchants a more comprehensive approach to payment acceptance and risk management.
ACI Worldwide has announced that it is set to acquire PAY.ON, an e-commerce payment gateway business based in Munich, Germany. PAY.ON’s white label global payment gateway features connectivity to more than 300 alternative payment methods and has relationships with merchant acquirers in more than 160 countries. With 2014’s acquisition of ReD, ACI Worldwide hopes to combine the two solutions with existing in-house technologies and products to create a robust omni-channel payment gateway.
Commenting on the deal, Phil Heasley, president and CEO, ACI Worldwide said,
“Combined with our market leading fraud and risk management solutions, we now offer the most comprehensive global omni-channel retail and e-commerce platform, allowing us to capitalise on the rapid growth in the retail merchant sector.”
With e-commerce among the fastest growing payment transaction types in Europe and around the world, combining the strong range of payment methods and acquiring relationships of PAY.ON and the payments risk management technology of ReD, ACI Worldwide will have one of the most competitive solutions in the marketplace today.
The acquisition of PAY.ON strengthens ACI Worldwide’s position in the rapidly evolving e-commerce payments market by expanding its global reach and enhancing its payment acceptance capabilities. As merchants increasingly seek unified solutions that support diverse payment preferences while minimizing fraud risk, the value of an integrated omni-channel payment gateway continues to grow.
By combining payment connectivity, acquiring relationships, and fraud prevention technologies into a single platform, ACI is creating a solution that aligns with the needs of global merchants. As digital commerce continues its upward trajectory, providers that can deliver flexible, secure, and scalable payment experiences will be well positioned for future growth.
