From an Allpoint press release:

Allpoint Network today announced that it has joined with Discover Financial Services to provide millions of Discover cardmembers with surcharge-free access to cash through 43,000 Allpoint ATMs in the United States. Discover Financial Services is a direct banking and payment services company with one of the most recognized brands in U.S. financial services. Allpoint Network is an affiliate of Cardtronics, Inc. the world’s largest retail ATM owner.

“In the direct banking environment, accountholders may be willing to forgo brick-and-mortar offices, but convenient cash access is still a must-have service. Discover is meeting that demand with surcharge-free ATM access through Allpoint, which brings together two brands known for delivering value to accountholders,” said Ben Psillas, president, Allpoint Network.

The ability to access ATMs at leading retailers without paying a surcharge is a compelling point for a wide variety of customers across the United States, no matter where they live, work, or travel.

As an increasing number of financial institutions’ customers and members already enjoy the benefits of surcharge-free ATMs, now Discover customers can as well. This announcement demonstrates creativity and vision as it enables surcharge-free ATM access as a network function for customers, no matter whether they bank with associated banks or thrifts.
