NetSpend Holdings Inc. announced Oct. 13 that it has signed a deal with 7-Eleven Inc. to allow NetSpend cardholders to reload their cards at 7-Eleven stores. What is unclear from the announcement is whether or not the cardholders will be able to use cash and reload at the point of sale or if they will just be able to purchase a reload card off the j-hook.

“This program offers our cardholders another convenient way to reload their card 24/7 at any of the more than 6,000 participating 7-Eleven locations in the U.S.,” said Dan Henry, Chief Executive Officer of NetSpend. “Convenience is very important to our customers, and we are very pleased to partner with one of the most recognized convenience store brands.”

In the announcement 7-Eleven says that is plans to expand its prepaid financial services program. Convenience stores have an opportunity to win new kinds of business using prepaid cards to offer additional services to their customers with a product that does not take up a lot of precious floor space.
