May 2016 – PagBrasil is pleased to present the first fully responsive boleto bancário, optimized for payments on smartphones, iPads and other tablets as well as on PCs. After the successful launch of Boleto Flash™, the unique boleto on the market that is confirmed to the merchant shortly after payment, the company now aims to facilitate even more effectively the use of the popular Brazilian payment method.

The Brazilian mobile market is growing and creates the need for tailored solutions. Brazil has more than 76 million smartphone users, according to Nielsen IPOBE, and mobile phones and tablets already represent 37% of all visits to e-commerce websites in Brazil. These numbers reflect the country’s m-commerce potential, that currently represents 12% of online sales, according to data from E-Bit. It is worth highlighting that the mobile channel is the preference of Brazilians who visit online stores by using multiple devices, according to a study published by Criteo, because 60% of these buyers finalized the purchase on a mobile device.

Taking this market scenario and feedback from clients into account, PagBrasil identified a growing need to provide its merchants with a boleto solution adjusted for smartphones, meeting the requirements of the Brazilian buyer. The exclusive technology is compatible with both of PagBrasil’s products, Boleto Express and Boleto Flash™, and can be integrated easily into any online store via API or Magento, WooCommerce and Shopify plug-ins. The new mobile boleto allows the buyer to just copy the boleto payment data in one step into his online banking app; aside from enabling an easy payment at any of the 170,000 ATMs in Brazil. In addition, by simply rotating the mobile phone a barcode is shown that can be scanned by any self-service banking terminal with a barcode reader supporting mobile phone screens. Like any other boleto bancário, the buyer can also print the boleto pay slip in the conventional format to pay it subsequently.

Alex Hoffmann, CEO and co-founder of PagBrasil, comments: “We are really enthusiastic about this launch. During tests we realized that the new responsive boleto is essential to increase conversions on mobile devices. Serval merchants we talked to confirmed that they have been actively searching, without results, for a mobile boleto solution for smartphones, and were all delighted when PagBrasil presented the solution”.
