Transact Named 2020 NFC Forum Innovation Award Finalist

Transact Campus Inc. has been named a 2020 NFC Forum Innovation Award finalist in the Best-In-Market NFC Implementation category. The NFC Forum is the global standards-body for Near Field Communication (NFC) technology and its Innovation Awards recognize the development, deployment and use of state-of-the-art of NFC products, services and applications worldwide.

Guided by a mobile-first philosophy, Transact is the first and only campus credential provider to offer native NFC contactless mobile IDs in both Apple Wallet and Google Pay. Transact Mobile Credential enhances the student experience by placing the campus ID on a students’ mobile device that can then be used for dining, point of sale, laundry, ticketing, vending, door access, and more. The Mobile Credential is supported on NFC-enabled reader devices manufactured by Transact, and a growing array of third-party devices that include support for access control, vending, and printing use cases.

“Working with our clients to deliver a first-of-its-kind NFC-enabled mobile student ID has been a decade in the making and delivers on our vision of a great user experience with the security and convenience that only NFC can provide,” said Jeff Staples, Senior Vice President, Market Development. “We’re honored to be a finalist for the NFC Forum’s Best-in-Market NFC Implementation and share this recognition with our clients who have shown such commitment to improving their student experience.”

Transact was one of only 15 finalists selected from 90 entries in five categories. Entries were reviewed and voted on by a distinguished panel of judges. Five grand prize winners will be revealed September 30, 2020 during an online awards ceremony.

 About the NFC Forum

The NFC Forum was launched as a non-profit industry association in 2004 by leading mobile communications, semiconductor, and consumer electronics companies. The Forum’s mission is to advance the use of Near Field Communication technology by developing specifications, ensuring interoperability among devices and services, and educating the market about NFC technology. The Forum’s global member companies are currently developing specifications for a modular NFC device architecture, and protocols for interoperable data exchange and device-independent service delivery, device discovery and device capability. Only member companies can participate in the Forum’s certification program of NFC devices, readers and tags.
