Turkey’s Bankalararası Kart Merkezi (BKM) has announced thatit has developed a Google Glass application that lets users access theirdigital wallets and make payments through their voice commands and QR codes.

Developed at the company’s innovation incubator, the newGoogle Glass application allows wearers to access the firm’s Express digitalwallet, where cards from 16 local banks can be stored. Using the stored cards, participating merchants use a dedicated application to generate a QR codecontaining sales information at which point the wearer can use their GoogleGlass to complete the transaction.

Commenting on the announcement, Soner Canko, GM, BKM said, “WithBKMLab we aim to implement many projects that will accelerate the growth of thepayment systems sector in Turkey leveraging advanced technologies to offerricher and more convenient payment experiences to customers.”

While wearable technology like Google Glass still representsa very niche market, by creating this new application that can be used forpayments, Turkish consumers if they so wish will be to make payments on aregular basis in one of the most innovative methods available today.
