In the continuing evolution toidentify the appropriate level of mobile integration into corporate paymentsofferings, USBank has launched the U.S. Bank Access® Online Mobile app tocomplement to Access Online. The bank’s initial foray into theapps for corporate payments provides corporate travel and purchasing cardclients with real-time account information like card balance, transactionhistory and payment due dates. The bankalso indicated that it plans further enhancements to assist client programadministrators.

As stated in the release, “U.S.Bank has been a pioneer in the commercial payments business since firstdeveloping the purchasing card in the 1980s, and we haven’t stopped,” said KurtAdams, president of U.S. Bank Corporate Payment Systems. “With our provenpayment experience and award-winning mobile platforms, we continue to developnew and exciting features and functionality to meet our clients’ evolvingneeds.”

The role of mobile intravel and purchasing card program management continues to move from talk toaction. Offerings like those announced by U.S. Bank are headingin the right direction but will need to monitored for behavioral adoption overtime. Certainly mobile is critical forany program’s ultimate success but there are many systemic challenges thatthese programs face. Whether issuers arefocused on the cardholders, the administrators or both, we will and should, certainly see the race to provide more client value through mobile continue toramp up.
