New York, NY – 12 September 2017 – WorldRemit, the leading digital money transfer service,  has launched in Nevada – making it the 48th state in which the company’s fast, convenient and lower cost service is available.

Customers in Nevada can now send money to family and friends in over 140 destinations around the world as easily as sending an instant message, using WorldRemit’s mobile app or website.

The United States is the world’s biggest sender of remittances, totaling almost $56.3bn each year according to the World Bank. Of Nevada’s nearly three million residents, one in five are migrants.

The diversity of Nevada adds to WorldRemit’s continuing reach into both the Mexican and wider Latin American populations. Nevada has deep latino roots, with Hispanics making up nearly one-third of the total state population.

Recently, WorldRemit brought in American Express’s Erick Schneider as new Head of Latin America, as well as Univision veteran Adriana Vila Soto as US Head of Marketing, to better serve the US Hispanic population. The region has seen notable growth with Mexico, Guatemala, Dominican Republic, El Salvador and Colombia spearheading WorldRemit’s regional expansion.

Remittances to Latin America represent a big market opportunity. Just over $70bn was sent in remittances to Latin America in 2016, according to the Center for Latin American Monetary Studies.

Erick Schneider, Head of Latin American at WorldRemit, comments: “Nevada is a richly diverse state and reflective of the inclusivity that WorldRemit strives for. As remittances from the U.S. to Latin American countries continue to rise, we are proud to equip the large Hispanic community and migrants from around the world in Nevada with the safest and most efficient way to send vital funds to their loved ones”.

Ismail Ahmed, founder and CEO at WorldRemit, said: “Millions of people from abroad work hard in the U.S. and contribute to the economy, sending remittances to support their relatives overseas. Likewise, families all over the world rely on these payments from people working in the U.S.”

“Whether the migrant is first generation or fourth, we want to be there for them as they look to help and support their friends and family with a safer, faster and lower cost transfer method”.

Every month WorldRemit customers complete 700,000 transactions to more than 140 receiving destinations.
