Facebook Uses Bango to Provide Carrier Billing for Digital Goods

Facebook mobile application users now can purchase digital goods using carrier billing and have those charges appear on their monthly cell phone bill. Bango is providing the carrier-billing service, which is currently available in Germany, the United Kingdom, and the United States. The company expects to ban the service in the next few months. Bango claims 77 percent of users who begin a transaction using service ultimately complete transactions, compared with 40 percent of users who do so using more traditional payment methods.
At a discussion before investors earlier this month, Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg made it clear that mobile is the future for his company. In fact, Zuckerberg went as far as to say that Facebook is now a "mobile company," and he has instructed his team to double down on mobile.
In addition to their partnership with Facebook, Bango provides carrier billing capabilities to a number of companies, including Electronic Arts, Fox, and Gameloft.
