Facebook Users Send 1 Million Gift Cards with Wrapp

Swedish digital gift card company Wrapp said it has reached 1 million digital gift cards redeemed by Facebook users, which shows a nexus between digital gift cards, mobile applications, and social media.

During the holiday shopping season, Wrapp saw use of its Apple and Android apps skyrocket. It has seen redemptions accelerate in 2013 as recipients cashed in their holiday gift cards.

Ninety Percent of Wrapp usage is on smartphones.
The company launched in Sweden and came to the United States last May. The application provides another channel for selling cards that connects to the social media channel.
