Amtrak has introduced an iPhone application that allows customers to book trips, change reservations, check schedules and purchase tickets from their mobile device. Once ordered, customers can pick their tickets up from an agent, print them at an in-station kiosk, or have them mailed to their home.
Amtrak is adding to the growing list of retailers that allow their customers to order goods and services from a mobile device. Additionally, the app allows travelers to share the details of their trip with friends on Facebook and Twitter. Programs and applications like Amtrak’s have the potential to increase sales and enhance customer satisfaction and loyalty.
