Comments Pouring into the Fed Regarding Proposed Regulation II Clarification

The Electronic Funds Transfer A, the largest inter-industry group within the payments industry, has launched their own resource site dedicated to the Durbin Amendment. A compilation of opinions, links, and news items, the site can found here EFTA Durbin Resource.

The site provides access to a library of information related to the Federal Reserve’s proposed cap on debit interchange fees, as well as a blog and commentary providing
opinions and analysis of the issue.

As the publication of the final rules gets closer and the commentary period nears to an end (closed as of February 22nd), analysis and information regarding the impact of this statute on the industry will take on even greater importance. As an inter-agency group, it will be particularly interesting to see how balanced the EFTA’s coverage of the amendment turns out. So far, they’re encouraging members to comment and offer some analysis on the legislature’s next steps. This is one to watch for anyone in the industry.
