Retail management software company Erply has developed a credit card reader for iPhones and iPads, similar to the product previously released by Square.
Erply’s mobile card reader attachment will connect to iPads and iPhones and transmit a person’s credit card data to its own point of sale software for processing payments. It also connects to Erply’s inventory management software, which should cut down on record keeping for any of the company’s 20,000 clients.
While Square is free to the merchant, Erply will cost merchants $50 to purchase, in addition to a monthly fee ranging between $100 and $1,000. However, whereas Square charges a transaction fee of 2.75 percent, Erply only charges 1.9 percent. In addition, Erply’s device provides NFC capability to any phone it is attached to, as well as an addition layer of security by connecting to the iPhone or iPad through its charging port, which is considered to be more secure than the audio port (which is the connection Square utilizes).
