April 13, 2016 – Shanghai Integrated Circuit Technology & Industry Promotion Center (ICC) has selected FIME to support the expansion of its mobile payments testing services in China. ICC will use FIME’s RF Test Bench and Global Device test tool to support local mobile vendors with the evaluation of EMV® and trusted execution environment (TEE) products.

ICC was founded in 2000 and is part of the Shanghai Academy of Science and Technology. It is dedicated to establishing and developing a public technical service platform to promote the integrated circuit (IC) industry across China, and is now expanding into the mobile space. It has an ISO 17025 laboratory to provide IC, radio frequency identification and near field communication (NFC), contactless EMV and a range of other testing services.

“Mobile payments are becoming increasingly prominent in China, so it was important that we expanded our offering to support this emerging market,” comments Peter Jiang, Vice Director at ICC. “We chose FIME as our strategic partner, not only because its tools were among the first to achieve the required industry qualifications, but also due to its status as a worldwide leader in the payments industry with an established presence and support network in the region. We look forward to working with FIME to provide Chinese customers with a turnkey solution for mobile payment product testing and certification.”

“Mobile chip and device manufacturers globally, in addition to service providers, want to ensure the security of connected devices for the protection of sensitive services like payments,” adds Arnaud Peninon, Vice President – Asia Pacific and Global Laboratories at FIME. “ICC can now support the ecosystem in aligning their products with a broad range of industry specifications and requirements, bringing stability, interoperability and security to deployments. We look forward to exploring further opportunities to collaborate with ICC in the future to support the continued growth of mobile payments in China.”

The FIME RF Test Bench enables the certification of smart cards, mobile devices and terminals against complete test plans that are fully compliant with EMV contactless specifications. Global Device offers a wide range of certification tests for chipset, mobile device, operating system and system on-chip (SoC) products worldwide. The tool can be used to test any device – for example, smartphones, tablets, set-top-boxes and wearables – which implement a range of TEE, NFC and telecom specifications.
