First Choice Power Allows Prepaid Utility Customers to Use Their Mobile Phones for Payments

First Choice Power, a company that allows utility customers to prepay for electricity, announced July 13 that it has made it possible for its customers to use their smart phones to manage their accounts. The company uses smart meters to allow customers to sign up without needing to sign contracts, make deposits, or pay additional fees.

Customers can log on to FirstChoicePower.com/quickpay from their computers or smart phones (iPhone™, Android™ or BlackBerry®), enter their customer information and add funds to their account. First Choice QuickPay allows customers to:

•View account balance

•View last payment date

•Calculate payment and estimate days of service left

Proponents of prepaid electricity service say that it helps customers manage their budgets more closely and promotes energy conservation because customers are more aware of their energy consumption.
