Pam Bondi, Florida’s Attorney General, has announced settlements with Account Now Inc, First Data Corp., Green Dot Corp., NetSpend Holdings Inc., and UniRush LLC as a result of its investigation into complaints about their disclosures.
Terms of the deal call for the companies to pay a combined $325,000 to the state for investigation costs and $115,000 in charitable donations to Orlando-based Junior Achievement of Central Florida for financial literacy programs.
All the companies agreed to make changes in their advertising and marketing, and First Data said that it had decided to stop selling prepaid cards in Florida altogether, though that decision was unrelated to the investigation.
