The German prepaid gift card industry has formed an industry body to facilitate the development of the market.
The Prepaid Forum Deutschland (PFD) represents the prepaid payments industry in Germany at a governmental level and lobbies for change in the legislative framework governing prepaid solutions. This includes a bill currently being considered by the federal government concerning e-payments and money laundering.
This proposed bill has caused concerns across the European prepaid industry that it might create too much burden to comply with the requirements. See prior PJ coverage here: https://paymentsjournal.com/Page.aspx?id=7520
One of PFD’s founding members is Ceridian Stored Value Solutions GmbH (SVS).
Juergen Stichenwirth, Vice President of Sales for Continental Europe and the Middle East for SVS, said: “We were delighted to become a founding member of this excellent and much needed organization. Being a member means we have our finger on the pulse and are sensitive to the market as it develops. This is hugely exciting for us and SVS will continue to be directly involved in the German prepaid industry, helping to cultivate innovation along the way.”
