National Gift Card Corp., a gift card marketing company based in Elgin, Illinois, announced July 6 that it has opened a Canadian division to meet increased customer demand for gift cards and prepaid cards that are denominated in Canadian dollars.

NGC Canada will provide both U.S. and Canadian customers the ability to order gift cards representing multinational U.S. brands with locations in Canada, as well as Canadian-specific brands. NGC Canada gift card products will be available for bulk ordering via a special portal on NGCdirect, the company’s proprietary online ordering system. Turnkey individual fulfillment and custom packaging solutions are also available.

As this business develops National Gift Card may find that it needs to manage the sales of these cards carefully to comply with money laundering regulations. But by offering cards that are denominated in different currencies, they may be able to help international companies avoid regulatory hassles in cross-border sales.
