Following last night’s news from the Cryptography Research division of Rambus Inc. announcing its acquisition of Bell ID, our CEO David Orme, and Dr. Martin Scott, senior vice president and general manager of the Rambus Cryptography Research division, offer their views on the deal and why the future remains as bright as ever for Bell ID.

David Orme, Bell ID:

“We’re extremely excited by this announcement; our two organisations are very well matched. Rambus’ investment in the Bell ID platforms will help us to enhance the support we provide to our valued customers and partners, further strengthening our position at the forefront of the secure mobile payments ecosystem.

“By integrating our advanced mobile payment platform, Rambus extends its solutions to enable in-field provisioning and HCE cloud-based services. We greatly look forward to further exploring these opportunities together.

“It is also important for me to highlight that our customers will not experience any immediate changes to the way we do business. In fact, Rambus will help us to maintain and enhance the support we already have in place. Our head office will remain in Rotterdam and we will continue to offer the levels of service and innovation that our customers have come to expect. I look forward to sharing more updates on our integration over the next few months.”

Dr. Martin Scott, Rambus:

“We’ve identified secure mobile payments as a key growth opportunity for Rambus and, in Bell ID, we have a company rich in specialist expertise, together with a product offering that is second to none. We clearly recognize the success and growth that the team has already achieved so we’re here to support Bell ID in doing more of what it does best.

“We have already identified product synergies and are dedicated to driving the quality of innovation and support for the benefit of our collective customers and partners. Together, we will focus on developing and enhancing our suite of mobile solutions in the right way, to effectively support secure cloud-based services. Our respective partners, which include our longstanding chipset manufacturers and now service providers, can look forward to exploring wider market opportunities through an expanded set of solutions, programs and services. This is a strategic acquisition and one that we know is going to be a great success.”
