Paysafe adds a second award after winning Transaction of the Year at AIM Awards

LONDON, MONTREAL, NEW YORK (November 12, 2015) – Paysafe, one of the world’s leading global payment solution providers, is proud to announce that it was named last night as the winner of the prestigious UK tech award for Deal of the Year in relation to Optimal Payments’ acquisition of Skrill for €1.1 billion, announced in March 2015 and completed in August 2015. The combined Optimal Payments and Skrill renamed itself Paysafe Group on 10 November 2015.

The UK tech awards celebrates success, rewards achievement and raises the profile of the UK tech community. The UK tech awards, now in their 15th year, are positioned to broaden the tech universe and include not only publicly quoted ‘techMark’ companies on the London Stock Exchange’s Main Market but also AIM tech companies and fast growing and innovative private tech companies.

According to the judging criteria, the winner of the Deal of the Year award must have ‘completed a significant commercial or corporate transaction during the period. The transaction could include licensing, partnering collaboration or acquisition of a company or IP. The deal would be significant in scope and transformational in nature and would have added significantly to the company’s or organisation’s prospects in the short, medium and long term.’

Commenting on the awards, Joel Leonoff, President and Chief Executive Officer of Paysafe, says: “These two latest awards are tributes to the entrepreneurial spirit and focus that are embedded in Paysafe. The acquisition of Skrill certainly met all the criteria for both this UK tech award and the earlier AIM Award. It was truly transformational and has created a world-class foundation from which we can continue to grow our customers and product offering. I’d like to thank all of our staff for making this transaction such a success.”
