Square is continuing to advance P2P electronic payments and mobile acceptance, this time through a partnership with Sitter Pals, a social network that seeks to connect parents and trustworthy sitters. New and existing Sitter Pals users can register for the free mobile app and credit card reader. Parents swipe their credit card and sign on the sitter’s smartphone or iPad with their finger. Sitters receive the payment the next day in their bank account, with a flat charge of 2.75 percent for each transaction. Consumers are continuing to migrate away from cash as a form of payment as mobile commerce firms like Square make electronic payments more convenient.
