The patent, Transaction Wireless’s second, will complement wGiftCard, the technology that powers the company’s gift card services for mobile devices. The newly patented technology merges social networking and digital gift card purchases with delivery via Facebook, mobile devices, and e-mail.

“Our technology platform is a leading solution that provides retailers with digital gift card purchasing, posting, and unparalleled brand interaction on the world’s most popular social site,” said Doug Schneider, CEO, Transaction Wireless.

This technology offers a strong value proposition to retailers, granting them access to Facebook’s 750 million active users, and providing a means to keep up with consumer’s increasingly digital lifestyles.

“This patent ensures our unique value proposition will be protected as we continue to grow the business. It also enables retailers to reach consumers where, when and how they prefer – via traditional plastic, snail mail, email, mobile device and now, social sites.”

Ease of use, personalization options, and accessibility are driving consumer’s preference for digital gift cards.
