VeriFone Partners With Airtel Africa on Merchant Enablement Across Africa

VeriFone and Airtel Africa will be partnering to allow mobile Tap n Pay to be used in 17 operating companies in Africa.

According to the Payment Eye story, VeriFone’s mobile Tap n Pay allows customers to pay, buy, bank and remit money with mobile phones at the point of sale.

“Airtel is excited to offer VeriFone Mobile Money’s applications to our teeming Airtel Mobile Money customers across Africa. Using their AirtelMoney Wallet with VeriFone’s contactless / NFC point of sale terminals our customers will have a more convenient, fast and secure way to make multiple payment transactions utilizing Tap n Pay,” said Chidi Okpala, Director & Head of Airtel Money Africa, in the Payment Eye story.“With this solution, we will be at the forefront of efforts to transform payments systems within the public mass transit and retail sectors in Africa.”

Airtel Africa is part of the Bharti Airtel Group.
