Is Transit the Catalyst for Contactless Payments?

Contactless payment technology has been around for a number of years and for much of this time, the most prevalent use case for the technology has been within transit systems. The value proposition is clear: Contactless cards (or tickets) allow busy commuters to quickly pay their fares can easily be reloaded as needed. For the transit system, contactless cards improve efficiency and cost savings by eliminating paper tickets and tokens. The Octopus electronic payment system in Hong Kong, Oyster in London, and contactless cards in other major cities have become synonymous with travel and remain popular with millions of commuters.
