Discover ranked tops in the 2018 JD Power U.S. Credit Card Satisfaction Study, performing better than other payment brands.  The top position has toggled between Amex and Discover; Discover ranked highest in 2016, then American Express in 2017, then back again to Discover in 2018.

Today’s read summarizes the standings.

  1. Discover
  2. American Express
  3. Barclays
  4. Chase
  5. Capital One
  6. Citi
  7. Bank of America®
  8. U.S. Bank
  9. Wells Fargo
  10. Synchrony

More important to me, however, is the firm’s operational performance, which in 2Q18, grew credit card loans by 10% and revenue by 8%.

I have both a Discover credit and debit card for personal use.   My wife and I used to complain about acceptance up until about three years ago, when Discover drastically increased their merchant base.  Limited recent problems, and I like that their customer service is U.S. based.

As for American Express, there is always next year!
