Softgate Systems Inc., a provider of walk-in bill payment services, and the Pay-O-Matic Corp., a check casher and bill payment provider announced they are collaborating to create a new bill payments system.

From Softgate:

The new solution will create a fully integrated platform that leverages Softgate’s bill payment processing engine and combines the two companies’ complimentary products like expedited payments, prepaid wireless, international top-ups, and prepaid debit cards. Both companies’ retail agent networks will be able to offer their customers an expanded array of services due to the coming together of these two in-person payments providers. Those using Pay-O-Matic’s current agent software will transition to POMLINK™, a single source solution, powered by Softgate, which will support all their payments needs.

The combination shows the even in the digital age, in-person payments are still in demand. Providing a broader array of services will help make check cashers such as Pay-O-Matic more competitive with other financial services providers ranging from banks to places like grocery stores that are offering services like check cashing and walk-in bill payments.
